Karma is defined as; “Action, seen as bringing upon oneself inevitable results, good or bad, either in this life or in a reincarnation”. I’m not saying that I believe in all aspects of this definition but I absolutely do believe in reciprocity. The idea of reciprocity can be seen throughout history and is described in various ways and by many different names. in essence, they all mean the same thing. We’ve all heard the sayings, “what goes around, comes around”, “you reap what you sow”, “do unto others as you would have others do unto you”, even in physics; “to every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction”. Not to mention the philosophies of the power of intention, and the law of attraction. If there wasn’t true to these ideas it would not be such a recurring theme from such different walks of life.
The premise of all of these things is that YOU are in control of your own life and your own destiny. Through your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and subsequent actions you are ultimately in charge. To me, this is great news and very exciting! Isn’t it liberating to think about life in this regard? No poorer me attitude, everyone’s always picking on me, or geez I guess I just have bad luck. If those are the thoughts that occupy your mind then guess what, that is what you will get. I’m not trying to say that bad things only happen to bad people, I know that is far from the truth. I am saying that attitude plays a huge part in one’s happiness and success.
So at this point, you may be thinking “is she ever going to tie this into real estate?” Yes, yes I am getting to the point of how this pertains to real estate. Whether you are a property manager, landlord, realtor, or investor it is important to be authentic. It isn’t going to do any good to misrepresent or exaggerate what your service or product can do for a client and in fact, by being misleading others you would be asking them to reciprocate in kind. Another point is “put yourself in other’s shoes” if a tenant is asking for something whether it be a new door or new carpet. Ask yourself if it is a reasonable request if it’s something that you would want if you lived at the rental property.
Stay positive my friends and watch the life you’ve always wanted unfold before your eyes.
