Rentec Direct’s Q3 2026 product development update highlights new features and enhancements that improve account security, simplify payment and accounting workflows, and make everyday property management easier.
Throughout Q3 2026, the Rentec Direct development team introduced new features, enhancements, and fixes designed to make everyday tasks easier, strenthen account security, improve automation, and help you save time managing your rentals.
These updates improve how you manage payments, work with tenants, access your account, and track important property information. While we don’t publish every single update, our development team works closely with our Account Setup Advisors and Support Team to prioritize client feedback and improvements that can make a difference in your day-to-day workflow. As a result, each improvement is designed to help make property management easier.
This quarter’s updates are categorized by Fixes (smaller improvements) and Features & Enhancements (larger changes). If you missed an update, here’s a recap of what the Rentec Direct development team released in the third quarter of 2026.
Rentec Direct Feature Updates, Fixes, and Enhancements Made Live in Q3 2026 [July, Aug, & Sept
*Features & Enhancements*
- Enhancement 4454 – Remodel Summary page. A cleaner, easier-to-scan overview of your portfolio so you can see what needs attention the moment you log in.
- Enhancement 4520 – Smoother card entry for tenants. The Add Payment Card form in the Tenant Portal now formats card numbers and CVV codes for each card type, reducing typos and failed payments.
- Enhancement 4648 – Quarterly frequency option. Quarterly is now available in the Frequency field for Marketing Info, Pricing, and Additional Charges, so you can set up quarterly billing without workarounds.
- Enhancement 3653 – Paste images directly into email templates. Add logos, photos, or screenshots to your templates without a separate upload step.
- Enhancement 4593 – Counter-signer initials in eSign. Add an initials field for counter-signers so every party can fully initial your documents electronically.
- Enhancements 4594 / 4546 – Work orders visible to everyone on the lease. Co-tenants can now see work orders in the Tenant Portal, and we’ve made sure each tenant sees exactly the work orders that apply to them — fewer “any update?” calls to your office.
- Enhancement 4562 – Transaction history preserved on deletion. Deleting a tenant, vendor, category, or product no longer removes its transaction history, so your accounting records stay complete and audit-ready.
- Integration 4532 / 4634 – SureVerify Tenant Legal Liability Insurance coverage (Beta). A new integration has been released in Beta for clients who want to try out the new TLL feature. TLL helps ensure your properties are protected when tenants don’t carry their own renters insurance.
- Enhancement 4653 – $2,000 IRS 1099 reporting threshold. The 1099 report and e-filing now include the updated $2,000 threshold option, keeping your year-end filings in line with current IRS requirements.
- Enhancement 4572 – Future Available Date on Marketing Info. Show prospects when a unit will be ready so you can start marketing before move-out and shorten vacancies.
- Enhancements 4640 / 4646 / 4550 – Easier passkey logins. If you sign in with a security key, Rentec Direct will suggest upgrading to a passkey for faster sign-in.
- Enhancement 4633 – Automatic Payment Allocation for product income categories and management fees. Let incoming payments allocate automatically to product income categories and management fees, cutting down on manual bookkeeping. Turn it on when you’re ready.
Bug Fixes
- Fix 4590 – You can once again add an authenticator app (TOTP) as a two-factor authentication method.
- Fix 4558 – Identity verification through Plaid, including hosted and custom flows, now completes without errors.
- Fix 4526 – Searching within data-field menus works again.
- Fix 4585 – Data fields now stay in the position you set them.
- Fix 4644 – What’s New posts are now marked as read for read-only users, so notifications clear properly for everyone on your team.
- Fix 4611 – Tenants on a Require Rent payment policy can now pay their rent amount (or more) even when other charges make their total balance higher, so rent isn’t blocked by unrelated outstanding items.
- Fix – Income summary amounts now display in full regardless of size — no more clipped numbers.
- Fix 4683 – Managing a tenant’s insurance on the Edit Tenant page no longer requires saving or discarding your other unsaved changes.
- Fix 4666 – Fixed an issue that prevented SMS messages from sending in the mobile app.
- Fix 4681 – When posting an ACH expense to a recipient who can’t receive ACH payments, you’ll now be prompted to choose a valid payee instead of hitting an error.

Added Available for Rent Date
You can now add a current or future available-for-rent date to your rental marketing information. With this update, prospective renters plan ahead while giving you more flexibility to market a property before it’s ready for move-in.
With this update, you can:
- Market upcoming vacancies in your public listings before the property is ready for move-in.
- Give prospective renters and leads an expected timeline when a property is not immediately available.
- Begin connecting with the prospective renters earlier to improve turnover time.

Market Ready Turn and Rentec Direct Integration
You can now connect Market Ready Turn, an AI guided rental turnover platform, with your Rentec Direct account. This integration helps you standardize inspections, coordinate repairs, verify completed work, and prepare rentals for listing while reducing duplicate data entry.
With this integration, you can:
- Standardize move-out inspections and use AI to identify needed repairs, distinguish tenant damage from normal wear and tear, and create vendor ready repair lists.
- Send work orders directly to your Rentec Direct account with one tap, with property, owner, and vendor information automatically synced.
- Verify completed work, track cleaning and readiness, and generate AI-drafted listing descriptions to help prepare your rental for its next tenant.

First Steps for Automated Payment Allocation
As Rentec Direct moves toward automated payment allocation, you can now prepare your account by setting up income categories and management fee preferences for your products and services.
You can:
- Assign income categories to your existing products & services
- Assign income categories to new products & services as you add them
- Indicate which products & services will include a management fee
By setting these preferences ahead of time, you can prepare your account for automated payment allocation and reduce manual work when the feature becomes available.

Remodeled Summary Page
The Summary page has been remodeled to give you a cleaner view of your account and helps bring important items that may require attention into focus.
Updates include:
- Action buttons for vacancies, expiring leases, overdue rent, and open work orders are muted when there is no activity and become more noticeable when a count is present.
- Quick access links are positioned higher on the page, making it easier to see information that may require attention, including inspections, insurance documents, applications, and signatures.
- We removed headers and footers from the page to reduce visual distractions.
- A new What’s New link gives users access to the latest Rentec Direct features and enhancements.
Tenant Legal Liability Insurance – Now in Beta Testing
Tenant Legal Liability Insurance provides a master policy, held by you, to protect your property against tenant-caused accidental damage (like kitchen fires or plumbing overflows). It acts as a safety net when a resident isn’t carrying active renters insurance. Rentec Direct has partnered with Sure to integrate a new TLL product into the software to provide landlords and property managers with easy access to TLL policies that are automatically linked to your properties and your resident’s renters insurance requirements.
