FICO credit scores are largely made up of a person\u2019s payment history (35%), amounts owed (30%), length of credit history (15%), new credit accounts (10%), and types of credit used (10%). Popular credit monitoring sites such as: TransUnion, Credit Karma, Nerdwallet, and more use VantageScore 3.0 to help consumers track their credit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since VantageScore can differ from a FICO score, this can cause confusion and frustration for renters applying for credit screening when they see numbers that do not align with their monitoring services. VantageScore can generate a score with less credit history. FICO scores require <a href=\"https:\/\/www.myfico.com\/credit-education\/faq\/scores\/fico-score-requirements\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">at least six months of credit history<\/a> before a score can be generated. The credit account (or &#8220;tradeline&#8221;) must be at least six months old, and there must be activity on the tradeline during the previous six months. Unfortunately for tenants who do not have any account opened for longer than 6 months, the results would previously show \u201cunable to score.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This can be frustrating for applicants, but can prove disadvantageous for landlords and property managers who did not receive what can feel like the most valuable part of the credit report. VantageScore can allow more applicants to receive a score, especially new renters and those with thinner credit histories.
