In other cases, the scammer impersonates the victim entirely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-scenarios-to-watch-out-for\">Scenarios to Watch Out For<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are a few common red flags:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Fake job offers:<\/strong> Scammers pose as employers on job listing sites (like Upwork, Facebook, Craigslist, and others) and may instruct applicants to create accounts with third-party platforms (like Rentec Direct) under the guise of employment interview requirements, payroll setup, background checks, or identity verification.
